Virus definition, or .DAT, files contain up-to-date Virus signatures and other information that McAfee anti-virus products use to protect your computer against virus attacks.
McAfee Labs now provides Beta pre-release, beta, or test versions of these .DAT files for use in emergency situations, to combat a virus or malicious code outbreak, or to provide a first-level quick response to virus attacks.
McAfee Labs researchers use these files in their own work to ensure that they have the absolute latest detection and removal capabilities for McAfee anti-virus software. Should you discover any defect or difficulty with these files, please use the information that appears at the bottom of this page to notify McAfee Labs. The message will be reviewed and noted.
Before you download or use these files, read these notes and disclaimers:
McAfee Labs researchers subject these pre-release .DAT file versions to a careful automatic test suite to verify their detection and removal capabilities, and in order to reduce the possibility of "false alarm" detections or other issues and to improve their overall reliability. Note, however, that the McAfee Quality Assurance team has NOT tested or approved these files for release. McAfee Makes no warranty that these files will be free from errors or other interruptions or that they will meet your requirements. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, McAfee disclaims all warranties, either express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and noninfringement with respect to these files. Some states and jurisdictions do not allow limitations on implied warranties, so the above limitation may not apply to you. The foregoing provisions shall be enforceable to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
