More Than 14,000 E-Tailers Adopt McAfee SECURE Trustmark to Deliver Safer E-Commerce Experiences for Customers

Brookstone, David’s Bridal and Others Use Trustmark to Reassure Customers;

TrustMark Use Jumps 55%

SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 21, 2009 - McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) today announced that Brookstone, David’s Bridal and The Metropolitan Museum of Art Store are among the newest companies to use the McAfee SECURE service to help communicate with customers about their sites’ security. Over the last year, the McAfee SECURE trustmark – which is only available to sites that pass rigorous daily security tests – has been adopted by thousands of e-tailers. In 2008, McAfee alerted consumers 82 billion times that they were safer while shopping on sites that use the McAfee SECURE service.

According to a study by Javelin Strategy & Research, retailers missed out on $21 billion in online sales in 2008 due to the impact of identity theft and a fear of online shopping; further, 80% of consumers reported that stronger security at the store Web site was a motivating factor to convince them to shop more frequently.

“Research conducted by Pew Internet in 2008 showed that three out of four consumers are reluctant to give their credit card information to online retailers for fear of identity theft,” said Tim Dowling, VP and General Manager of McAfee’s Web Security Group. “The McAfee SECURE trustmark provides retailers with a complete security resource that enables them to enhance customer confidence, and expand brand loyalty and their business. The trustmark helps Internet retailers, ranging from small e-commerce sites to big brands, compete in this challenging economy.”

Displaying the McAfee SECURE trustmark allows e-tailers to provide customers with the assurance that their Web site has passed rigorous daily tests for vulnerabilities that pose a threat to sensitive customer information. The trustmark also appears in McAfee SiteAdvisor® search results allowing merchants to stand out in those results, further extending their reach. In addition, McAfee SECURE e-tailers can get additional exposure in McAfee’s secure shopping portal at www.mcafeesecureshopping.com. McAfee SECURE shopping only features e-tailers who have been certified McAfee SECURE and directly reaches security-conscious shoppers.

“We want our customers to be confident that they’re safer shopping on our site,” said Marie Harding, Operational Vice President of Direct Marketing Operations at Brookstone. “We chose the McAfee SECURE service because it is the most robust testing in the industry and helps us demonstrate that we take our customers’ security seriously.”

McAfee SECURE services combine daily network perimeter scanning, testing for more than 10,000 network and Web application vulnerabilities, rigorous security testing to ensure against malware, and business practice review for Web site owners and online retailers. With the McAfee SECURE service, e-commerce merchants can also demonstrate PCI-compliance, the standard for the payment card industry. On average, McAfee SECURE sites also see an 11% increase in online sales conversions.

The McAfee SECURE service is available today for Web site owners. Pricing is based on the number of IP addresses or page views. For more information, please visit: www.mcafee.com/mcafeesecure.
