World Class Protection At Lower Cost Drove Decision
SANTA CLARA, Calif., April 30, 2009 - McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) today announced it has secured a multi-year, multimillion dollar enterprise license agreement with the State of New York to provide endpoint security for servers, PCs and laptops at agencies and counties across the state.
“With cybercrime on the rise, the need to protect sensitive data is of great concern for federal, state and local government organizations,” said Mike Carpenter, senior vice president of public sector for McAfee. “We are privileged to fill the role of trusted security advisor to New York, a state that is dedicated to the improvement of its security posture through proactive solutions.”
The agreement, which includes McAfee Total Protection for Endpoint Advanced and McAfee Total Protection for Data, will provide the Empire State with an improved security posture and increased mobility at a total cost of ownership (TCO) savings of approximately 75 percent over previous purchases. The agreement covers all of the state agencies and counties, comprising over 200,000 servers, PCs and laptops.
“During these fiscally challenging times, cost savings must to be a focal point with every transaction,” said Dr. Melodie Mayberry-Stewart, New York state chief information officer and director of the office for technology. “McAfee solutions have enabled the State of New York to realize unprecedented cost savings and meet our unique security suite needs of higher levels of protection across the state enterprise.”
The agreement was signed after the New York State Office of Cyber Security and Critical Infrastructure Coordination released a state-wide security policy requiring all mobile endpoints to have encryption. McAfee Total Protection for Data includes an encryption tool, enabling New York’s agencies and counties to meet this requirement, protecting sensitive data on the move.
“To most efficiently and effectively protect sensitive information, it is essential to establish partnerships with vendors with whom you can strategically align,” said Rico Singleton, deputy chief information officer for the State of New York. ”The agreement accomplishes our strategic cost savings goals and enables us to meet our protection goals we set out to achieve. We’re thrilled to be working with McAfee, an industry leader that truly understands our state’s organizational strategy and security goals.”
McAfee Total Protection for Endpoint Advanced is an end-to-end solution providing organizations with simplified, comprehensive threat protection. McAfee Total Protection for Data offers encryption, authentication, data loss prevention, and policy-driven security solutions, enabling organizations to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive information. Both solutions integrate with McAfee’s single-console management solution, ePolicy Orchestrator, enabling intelligent security and compliance optimization.
