Securing the Mobile Enterprise at Riverside Healthcare

Executive Summary
Riverside Healthcare is a fully integrated medical system with more than 2,500 employees serving the health care needs of patients in communities of the southern suburbs of Chicago. Riverside Healthcare is comprised of four entities including Riverside Medical Center, a 336-bed, nationally recognized, awardwinning hospital with leading programs in heart care, cancer care, neurosurgery and orthopedics located in Kankakee, Illinois.

Challenge—Extend Protection to Mobile Devices
Riverside Healthcare has three key objectives for its security program: compliance with HIPAA, PCI, DSS, and FTC regulations; improving operations through automation of security tasks; and data loss prevention. With many employees needing to access the corporate network from their cell phones and other mobile devices, Riverside sought a security solution that could be centrally managed and provide security for mobile devices including built-in enforcement of compliance policies.

McAfee Solution—Efficient and Comprehensive Data Loss Prevention
A McAfee customer for many years, Riverside has built its enterprise security platform on McAfee Total Protection (ToPS) for Endpoint Advanced, including VirusScan Enterprise, Site Advisor Enterprise, Host Intrusion Prevention, and Network Access Control. Riverside recently completed its latest security initiative, installation of McAfee Enterprise Mobility Management (EMM) to extend the security framework to employees’ mobile devices. Altogether, more than 1,950 endpoints including mobile devices are under the protection of McAfee software.

Through a seamless integration with McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (ePO), McAfee EMM provides robust data loss prevention for employees who need to access the Riverside Healthcare corporate network using a range of devices including iPhones, Blackberries, Windows Mobile phones, and Android devices. With secure mobile application access, strong authentication, high availability, scalable architecture, and compliance reporting in a seamless system, McAfee EMM brings the same level of control to Riverside’s mobile devices that McAfee systems provide to the company’s laptops and desktops. With McAfee EMM, Riverside can configure each mobile device in accordance with corporate security policies and enforce compliance via network access control. Via ePO, Riverside can remotely manage the devices and efficiently perform tasks such as wiping and encryption.
