Vietnam a growing cloud computing market

January 6, 2012

Cloud computing adoption has already surged among businesses and government agencies in the United States and European markets, and some experts believe Vietnam is becoming a significant cloud market.

According to recent VietNamNet report, enterprises and consumers in Vietnam are increasingly accepting cloud computing a viable IT solution.

"A lot of businesses and organizations have foreseen the tendency of using cloud computing, while many of them have pioneered in utilizing cloud computing solutions," cloud computing expert Vo Tan Long told the source.

The report said organizations in Vietnam adopt cloud services for improved, less-expensive infrastructure, applications related to corporate governance and the ability to remotely test and develop software.

Mai Quynh Hoa, a cloud expert with a major technology provider, told the source that hybrid cloud computing will become popular among Vietnamese businesses, allowing them to use applications in a virtual environment with resources stored at their company. The report said some experts believe Vietnam's cloud market will quadruple between now and 2015.

Other Asian nations are also instilled on the technology industry's radar as potential cloud hotbeds, as a recent GigaOM report said India's cloud market will expand from $400 million in 2011 to $4.5 billion by 2015.
