Over the past 15 years, McAfee has grown into the largest provider of security solutions to the Federal Government. This growth is testament to not only the quality of our products, but also to the personnel of our Federal organization.
Investing in Solutions, People, and Scale
McAfee is acutely aware that IT tools do not architect, install, or operate themselves. Rather, these tools require the support of skilled, cleared contractor personnel. McAfee has built a large consultant organization to assist our Federal customers with the successful planning, implementation, and operation of their security solutions. There is no better example than the DoD Host Based Security System (HBSS) program. HBSS, which is based upon McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO), McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS), and McAfee Policy Auditor software, is a required solution across all DoD networks — an estimated five million nodes in all. Through HBSS, McAfee has expanded and matured its own management, business, and support processes. Whether it has been sending its own personnel into Iraq, deploying McAfee technology on the world’s largest, most complex networks, training countless thousands of government employees, or providing cleared technical support people available 24/7, McAfee has demonstrated the experience, scale, and dedication necessary to deliver against the most complicated requirements.
Investing in Innovation and an Open Platform
On February 28, 2011, Intel Corporation completed the acquisition of McAfee, Inc. McAfee operates as a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel and maintains its own products, customers, and sales force. Intel and McAfee brought the first fruits of their strategic partnership to market in the fall of 2011, with the intent of tackling security and the pervasive nature of computing threats in an entirely new way. Intel and McAfee believe today's approach to security does not adequately address the billions of new Internet-ready devices, including PCs, mobile and wireless devices, TVs, cars, medical devices, and ATM machines. With the surge in cyberthreats, providing protection to a diverse online world requires a fundamentally new approach involving software, hardware, and services. Together the two companies are working to help people more securely take full advantage of the potential of computing and connectivity.
McAfee innovators work closely with Intel to define and influence the future of security using the power of McAfee Global Threat Intelligence and the open and comprehensive Security Connected platform. Building on integrated offerings already in the market, McAfee and Intel are delivering hardware-enhanced solutions, software, and services that can protect and facilitate government and coalition networks and collaboration efforts worldwide.
