McAfee, Inc. Delivers on Smart, Simple, Secure Strategy

SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 10, 2009 - McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) today announced that it is taking the “Security in 15 Minutes a Day” message on the road. The company is currently planning more than 75 sessions around the world to educate SMB IT security teams on the threats they face. The event will include workshops to help provide guidance on the practices SMBs should put in place to be more safe and secure.

“We are proud of the progress we’ve made in the mid-market, and now want to focus on raising the awareness of the security threats targeting mid-market companies,” said Darrell Rodenbaugh, senior vice president of McAfee’s worldwide Mid-Market Segment. “As the leader in security, we consider it our responsibility to provide a way for our customers to go home at night, confident that their information assets are safer and more secure.”

As part of McAfee’s mid market strategy, the company has provided a “security best practices approach” entitled, “Security in 15 Minutes a Day.” This methodology provides guidance to SMB’s on how to become more “safe and secure” within the limited time they are able to devote to security management.

“We’ve made the methodology freely available to promote a more secure computing environment for the SMB customer that is challenged with keeping up with the threats they face,” added Rodenbaugh.

Last quarter the company introduced two new suites for the mid market, McAfee® Total Protection for the Secure Business and Total Protection for the Endpoint “Essential.” The Total Protection for Secure Business provides the broadest protection of any vendor in the security market, from the end-point to data protection to the gateway, in one easy to procure and easy to manage suite. While only available for only a few months, these solutions have already captured close to a thousand new customers and contributed significantly to McAfee’s 2008 fourth quarter growth.

“We've been impressed by McAfee's focus on the small and medium-sized customers’ security needs and their continued commitment to its reseller channel—we attribute their success to that strategy,” said Becky Ramey, senior product consultant Broughton International. “We're also excited about McAfee's 'Security in 15 Minutes' methodology and we intend to adopt that approach with our customers to help them be more safe and secure.”
