Announces Support for Faster Encryption Based on Intel AES-NI Technology
LAS VEGAS, October 07, 2009 - McAfee, Inc. (NYSE:MFE) announced McAfee® Endpoint Encryption for PC v6.0, offering powerful full-disk encryption and strong access control to prevent loss of sensitive data, especially from lost or stolen devices. McAfee Endpoint Encryption delivers complete protection for all endpoints in one integrated solution, centrally managed by McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator® (ePO™).
McAfee ePO is the only enterprise-class open platform to centrally manage security for systems, networks, data, and compliance solutions. With end-to-end visibility and powerful automations that slash incident response times, ePO dramatically strengthens protection and drives down the cost of managing security.
McAfee Endpoint Encryption will be the first encryption technology to support the upcoming Intel 32-nm Westmere microprocessors that adds AES-NI (Advanced Encryption Standard – New Instructions) technology. McAfee Endpoint Encryption will check for the presence of Intel AES-NI technology on the device and once identified, the combination is expected to lead to faster encryption performance and, in turn, better run times for the end user.
“Our upcoming 32 nm Westmere processors with Intel® vPro™ technology support major advances in business client security,” said Lisa M. Watts, director of business client ecosystem development at Intel. “We are pleased to have industry leaders like McAfee leveraging AES-NI to deliver impressive encryption performance.”
McAfee Endpoint Encryption 6.0 features:
“Encryption is an essential piece of any organizations’ data protection arsenal,” said Gerhard Watzinger, general manager of McAfee’s data protection business unit. “With McAfee Endpoint Encryption, it is simple to protect data on lost or stolen devices and manage the company’s policies using a common agent. As companies embrace hardware-based encryption along with a software based approach, McAfee enables them to continue to manage the entire IT environment through a single console thus eliminating the need for costly duplicate management infrastructure.”
McAfee Endpoint Encryption products running on the Intel-based platform will be demoed at McAfee’s annual security conference, FOCUS 09 taking place October 6-9 at the Palazzo Resort-Hotel-Casino in Las Vegas. Attendees will be able to learn more about McAfee and Intel’s joint efforts during a keynote presentation and breakout sessions and exhibits on the expo floor.
