Objectives

Our consultants help you plan and implement deploying your McAfee Secure Messaging Gateway appliance, and work with your team to determine how to get the most out of the technology within your network environment.

Tasks Performed:

We start by working with you to develop a deployment strategy.

• Establish your network protection goals
• Place sensors for to most effectively protecting your network
• Configure sensor ports to match your network configuration
• Review your options to deal with network asymmetric routing
• Review your options to deal with failover networks

Setup and Configuration

• Determine sensor installation modes based on your requirements
• Install one McAfee IntruShield® manager
• Install three IntruShield sensors
• Apply initial detection/prevention policies
• Set up administrative alerts

Training

We will train your network administrators over a two-day session to configure and maintain your McAfee SMG as your needs evolve.

• Schedule signature and software updates for sensors
• Create user roles and access privileges
• Back up and maintain the alert database
• Configure monitoring ports and virtual IDS
• Determine appropriate policies for each interface and virtual IDS
• Clone and tune policies
• Manage and investigate alerts
• Understand how the system recognizes alert categories and generates events
• Understand how the system stores events and packet logs in the database
• Use the historical alerts view to find specific, filtered data
• Generate reports on events and configurations
• Create user-defined reports
• Choose the best policy for particular network segments
• Tune the policy based on actual network traffic conditions
• Purge and tune events in the database using McAfee scripts
