Characteristics

This virus is a class-module infector, uses "Thisdocument" macro storage. It uses the framework for W97M/Marker virus family by use of a placeholder in the virus code and a search algorithm for self-checking its infections.

Symptoms

This virus has a payload on February 22 to delete all files in the active directory and display a message box titled "It's Murder" with the statement "That's right". As with the W97M/Marker viruses, this variant keeps a log of infected computer users as comments appended to the virus code.

Method of Infection

Opening infected document will directly infect the global template NORMAL.DOT which will infect any document used in the Word environment.

Removal

All Users :
Script,Batch,Macro and non memory-resident:
Use current engine and DAT files for detection and removal.

PE,Trojan,Internet Worm and memory resident :
Use specified engine and DAT files for detection. To remove, boot to MS-DOS mode or use a boot diskette and use the command line scanner:

SCANPM /ADL /CLEAN /ALL
