McAfee wins Security Vendor of the Year award
London, 27th November 2006 – McAfee, Inc., the leading dedicated security technology company, has won the UK Computer Reseller News ‘Security Vendor of the Year’ award.
McAfee® was nominated alongside other leading vendors including Check Point Software, Fortinet, RSA Security, SonicWall and Sophos but won the prestigious award based on the successful SMB channel programme, which was set up and executed this year in EMEA as part of McAfee SecurityAlliance™ global partner programme.
Presented at the annual ceremony at Battersea Park Arena London, the award was accepted on behalf of McAfee by Rob Eatwell, regional channel director. The award highlights McAfee’s successful SMB channel programme that has been developed specifically to spread knowledge and expertise to ‘non-expert’ small business resellers.
Rob Eatwell, regional channel director for McAfee, comments, “Every business is now at risk from security attacks and this includes small businesses. Whereas the large-scale enterprises have the internal expertise and budgets to implement the right technology to tackle the threats, small businesses are at a disadvantage. We identified that these ‘one-stop shop’ resellers are crucial to the SMB market so we wanted to ensure our partners were fully equipped to provide the right security products for this group.”
As part of the programme, McAfee set up a number of schemes and re-developed internal structures to ensure that partners were receiving the support required from McAfee. This was designed to both improve the service they offered their customers, and to extend McAfee’s security expertise to SMBs through a tailored product or service offering that takes into account the resource realities that apply to many smaller companies.
Rob Eatwell continues, “Winning the award is a great recognition of the dedicated team’s hard work. The programme has been a huge success and has helped small businesses access the same level of security protection as any large enterprise.”
