Mark Cochran

Mark Cochran provides strategic leadership and legal counsel for McAfee. He directs McAfee worldwide legal affairs and license compliance teams. He brings two decades of expertise in handling mergers and acquisitions, intellectual property protection, corporate governance, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance for technology companies.

Cochran previously worked in the law departments of both large and small technology companies. Cochran joined McAfee in 2007 from Hyperion, where he was vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary. He held the same positions at both Brocade Communications Systems, a storage networking company, and AvantGo, which was acquired by Sybase. Cochran also served as senior corporate counsel for Advanced Micro Devices and corporate counsel at Syntex, which was acquired by Roche. He began practicing law with the San Francisco Bay Area firm of Ropers, Majeski, Kohn, Bentley, Wagner & Kane.

Cochran has received two American Jurisprudence Awards — one in business planning and one in international organizations. In addition, Cochran is a motivational speaker on issues related to integrity and leadership in personal relationships, the workplace, and the community. He is also a member of the Silicon Valley General Counsel Association (SVGCA), the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC), and the California State Bar.

Cochran holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Davis. He received his Juris Doctor from Santa Clara University Law School, and his Master of Business Administration from the Leavey School of Business at Santa Clara University.

Cochran lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his wife and two children. He enjoys motivational speaking, running, cycling, paragliding, skiing, and dirt biking.
