On February 26, 2013, McAfee announced its acquisition of ValidEdge sandboxing technology from LynuxWorks. The technology identifies sophisticated, hard-to-detect threats by running suspected malware in a “sandbox,” analyzing its behavior and assessing the potential impact the malware may have on an endpoint. This advanced detection enables McAfee to automatically block future attacks by the identified malware and provide a signature to remediate any infected endpoints.
With the integration of this technology, McAfee improves its capability to quickly identify zero-day threats and strengthens its portfolio of network and endpoint antimalware products. The first products that integrate the new sandboxing technology will be rolled out in the second half of 2013.
