Below is a list of features included with this beta release of the product.

McAfee Email Protection (Hybrid)

Inbound mail protection is provided by the McAfee Email Protection (Hybrid) service.

Outbound mail policy application is enforced by McAfee Email Gateway appliance.

Full policy, reporting and quarantine for both inbound and outbound mail protection is managed from the McAfee Email Gateway appliance.

Commtouch® Command anti-virus

A secondary anti-virus engine to provide defense-in-depth against malware. The anti-virus scanning technology has been enhanced to supplement the McAfee anti-virus engine with the Commtouch® Command anti-virus engine. The secondary engine can be configured to always scan messages (exhaustive) or only scan messages that are considered clean by the McAfee engine (optimized).

Encryption Pull in cluster

It is now possible to utilize Pull encryption in a cluster environment. When clustered the McAfee Email Gateway ensures that encrypted messages stored on the system are accessible from the master and failover devices.

Role-based queue access

An administrator can now configure restricted access to message search (including queued email and quarantine queues). Access control is managed through role assignment. Roles can be given read or write access to queues, and access to individual queues can be limited on a per-role basis.

Message search enhancements

Messages can now be searched by attachment name.

The Policy name is now visible.

Columns may now be hidden.

Recipient-based header aliasing

It is now possible to replace recipient email addresses in the email headers. Replacement strings can be configured within the user interface, or determined by directory lookup.

Message search from ePO

Message search is now available from within McAfee® ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO™). Multiple appliances can be queried and the results displayed directly in the McAfee ePO user interface.

Mail size filtering enhancement

Real file-size can now be used in size-filtering calculation. McAfee Email Gateway can now be configured to decode all message parts before determining their size when performing mail size filtering. This feature allows size filtering to be performed based on the actual size of attachments, rather than the size of the raw encoded data.

64-bit platform

The appliance now operates in 64-bit mode, and uses a 64-bit operating system.

NOTE To use the virtual version of McAfee Email Gateway, you must now use a 64-bit VMware host.

Please note that this beta release is for testing purposes only and should NOT be placed in a production environment.
