BMC BladeLogic Client Automation provides comprehensive support for managing the entire lifecycle of desktops, laptops, and handheld devices. The integration work done with McAfee will allow organizations to deploy and manage security content, along with the other compliance activities of client management — software, patch, power settings, service packs, and configuration content.
By incorporating security remediation content from McAfee, BMC will be able to provide our mutual customers with the ability to manage all aspects of compliance through a single solution. This functionality will give organizations a foundation on which to more effectively merge the functions of IT security with those of IT operations. The benefits to customers should include better risk mitigation, process standardization, higher end-user satisfaction, staff consolidation, and an overall reduction in IT costs.
“By bringing IT operations and security together in a single, integrated solution, we are removing the element of conflict and ensuring both IT and security are aligned, based on the needs of the business,” said Paul Avenant, BMC’s vice president of products, Enterprise Service Management. “In addition to increasing compliance and speed to remediation, the integration can also drive down IT costs by reducing the amount of resources required to maintain systems integrity.”
Most customers and analysts agree that the functions of IT security and IT operations are in a convergence phase, where organizations need to achieve a higher level of operational efficiency and better coordination and communication between these related functions. This partnership between BMC and McAfee helps to make that convergence trend a reality for our mutual customers.
The most demanding IT organizations in the world rely on BMC Software across both distributed and mainframe environments. Recognized as the leader in Business Service Management, BMC’s comprehensive approach and unified platform help IT organizations cut cost, reduce risk, and drive business profit. For fiscal 2010, BMC revenue was $1.91 billion.
