Québec’s An Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector has been declared to be substantially similar to PIPEDA.

An Act to amend the Act respecting health services and social services, the Health Insurance Act and the Act respecting the Régie de l’assurancemaladie du Québec

WORKPLACE PRIVACY LAWS The collection and processing of employment information is regulated by An Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector.
TRANSBORDER TRANSFERS Regulated by Article 17 of An Act Respecting the Protection of Personal Information in the Private Sector.
FINES AND SANCTIONS Monetary fines range from $1,000 to $100,000, depending on the particular violation. Criminal sanctions are also authorized.
