| SUMMARY |
ITAR is a set of regulations that control the import and export of defense-related articles and services. The goal of ITAR is to safeguard U.S. national security and further U.S. foreign policy objectives. The Department of State has responsibility for the control of the permanent and temporary export and temporary import of defense articles and services pursuant to 22 U.S.C. § 2778 of the Arms Export Control Act. All U.S. manufacturers, exporters, and brokers of defense articles, defense services, or related technical data are required to register with the U.S. Department of State. |
