The increased demand for software to take advantage of cloud computing frameworks will help push the market higher, according to research from Equity Markets.
The growing need for data center infrastructure will prompt an upturn in the number of companies buying server software, despite the growth of the public cloud. Both traditionally constructed IT systems and those using private clouds will keep end-user demand for servers high.
Regionally, the company said, the strongest growth potential was seen in the Asia/Pacific market, which accounts for more than half of the world's demand for semiconductors. Comparatively, according to the researchers, the U.S. makes up 20 percent.
Both software and hardware markets have been widely expected to recover in the wake of the recession, as businesses look to add to their IT capabilities in preparation for expansion and increased competition.
