A recent survey of nearly 1,000 small- and medium-sized business owners revealed that many are not yet convinced about the benefits afforded through cloud computing.
At the very least, many SMB owners are not aware of the cloud’s potential, as the study, conducted by Newtek Business Services, found 32 percent of survey respondents were unsure if the cloud could help them reduce their IT costs.
Many SMBs and larger businesses already using the cloud have also found the technology to enhance their data protection capabilities. With such solutions as Security-as-a-Service and faster disaster recovery, the cloud keeps data safe from cyber attacks and other IT-related disasters.
This obliviousness about the cloud may soon change, as several media-friendly cloud services become available. Microsoft, for example, this week launched its long-awaited productivity suite, Office 365, which includes cloud-based versions of Office, SharePoint, Exchange, and Lync. Furthermore, Apple recently announced the launch of its own cloud service, iCloud.
