CSCC establishes cloud working groups, steering committee

In an effort to ensure the continued growth for cloud computing, the Clouds Standards Customer Council recently established several working groups designed to address the myriad issues surrounding the technology.

According to the CSCC, it has approved the establishment of eight working groups, each dealing with a separate concern of the cloud, including interoperability, business patterns and social business, among others.

Though more businesses are turning to the cloud to take advantage of its cost efficiency and easy deployment, many have voiced concerns about the technology's reliability and security. By establishing working groups to address these concerns, the CSCC may be able to spark further cloud adoption.

The council also announced the election of its steering committee, which includes representatives from Lockheed Martin, IBM and CloudOne, among others. The steering committee oversees management of the CSCC, establishes directions and priorities, approves working groups and votes on whitepapers published by the group.

Experts have said the standardization of certain cloud practices will improve user confidence in the technology. Last month, another group, the Open Data Center Alliance, published its own set of best practices and standards for the cloud.
