Echoing the findings of those before it, a new study from TheInfoPro found cost reduction and flexibility to be among the most sought-after benefits of the cloud.
However, the study also found that comfort levels in the cloud seem to be improving, as fewer companies consider security an obstacle for adopting the technology.
In a survey of cloud professionals and IT decision-makers, 13 percent of respondents said they have concerns about their data security implication of the cloud. Though security is often cited as the No. 1 inhibitor of the cloud, TheInfoPro's study found it to be ranked third behind a lack of understanding and initial investments.
TheInfoPro's findings seem to suggest that some companies are recognizing that the cloud can provide equal, if not greater, levels of data protection than many on-premise solutions.
While cloud security concerns are nothing to be dismissed, a recent InfoWorld reported encouraged IT professionals to come to the realization that, like all technology, the cloud is imperfect. The benefits of the cloud are simply too great for companies to ignore.
