Cloud Industry in India Projected to be Strong Through 2020

The international success of the cloud computing industry has been no secret to IT professionals, enterprises and individual computer users. In some countries and regions, the cloud has been more successful than in others, such as the U.S. and Europe. A new report from the Economic Times explained that India will likely be one of the cloud industry hot spots in the coming years.

According to the news provider, the cloud industry in India is projected to surpass $15 billion in revenue by 2020. The study, conducted by India's NASSCOM in conjunction with Deloitte Research, also projects the global cloud industry to reach close to $700 billion by 2020, as adoption of the technology has proven highly successful across a variety of professional industries.

"There are ample opportunities for cloud in every industry, and with the increased preference of cloud adoption in the coming years, industry will have to invest in competency building internally to take advantage of cloud computing technologies," NASSCOM president Som Mittall told the news source.

In the U.S., Gartner projected the cloud to surpass $68 billion in revenues in 2010, while the research firm projects the global cloud industry to reach $148.8 billion by 2014.
