IT experts continue to predict cloud computing adoption will explode during the next few years, as more companies understand the cloud's data storage, application sharing and cost saving potential.

According to a recent survey by Taylor Nelson Sofres, a market research group, IT managers have a variety of reasons for embracing cloud services, including the flexibility to access information on multiple devices, improved efficiency and cost cutting. Thirty-three percent of respondents said the accessibility to information through a variety of platforms is the most important reason for cloud adoption, while 21 percent cited increasing the speed of business as paramount.

The study also revealed the majority of businesses using the cloud are saving money, as 82 percent of organizations said they cut costs on their previous cloud approval. Meanwhile, 93 percent of respondents said at least one area of their IT department has improved since implementing cloud technology, with 52 percent experiencing a rise in data center efficiency, the report said.
The report comes after numerous studies recently predicted cloud growth will skyrocket in the coming years. According to a CoreNet Global survey, 71 percent of companies outsource at least some aspects of their data storage to the cloud, a figure many IT experts believe will soon escalate.
