Research firms and cloud computing experts continue to predict technology will experience even more growth in 2012 than this year, a significant feat considering the current rapid pace of cloud adoption throughout several industries in the United States.
According to a recent report by a leading business IT solutions provider, enterprises will increasingly use cloud technology to improve efficiency and get closer to customers in 2012.
"Across industries and geographies, we will see companies make current customers their number one priority," said cloud compluting expert Trisha Gross. "In addition, as organizations continue to look for ways to deliver more business value from every IT dollar spent, the compelling TCO of cloud solutions will be a primary driver and justification to move more aggressively to the cloud."
The report predicts that consumerization of IT will fuel greater adoption of integrated cloud-based solutions, as IT departments strive for lower costs, which the report said is still the primary reason companies use the cloud. Meanwhile, more organizations will feel comfortable transferring business applications to a cloud environment this year.
According to Gartner, 50 percent of enterprise email users will access their account primarily on a browser, tablet or mobile device by 2016, confirming that IT managers are exploring the option of putting applications in the cloud.
