Imagine s<\/span>ixteen paws, eight floppy ears and four wagging tails<\/span>\u00a0happily greeting you at the door\u2014<\/span>that\u2019s my welcoming committee<\/span>\u00a0every day<\/span>. Dogs\u00a0<\/span>have\u00a0<\/span>always held a special place in my heart<\/span>, but<\/span> it wasn\u2019t until I added the third to my pack that I felt dogs were my passion.<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>average<\/span>d<\/span>\u00a0100 volunteer hours a year for\u00a0<\/span>an\u00a0<\/span>animal rescue<\/span>, but with the\u00a0<\/span>V<\/span>olunteer\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>ime\u00a0<\/span>O<\/span>ff benefit at McAfee, I can add another 32 hours to that, which allows me even more time to support rehoming approximately<\/span>\u00a0650 animals per year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Answering the Howl<\/span><\/h2>\n

Six years ago, m<\/span>y calling found me when I\u00a0<\/span>adopted my third from\u00a0<\/span>Lost Paws Rescue of\u00a0<\/span>Texas<\/span>. D<\/span>uring my<\/span>\u00a0conversations with the founder and volunteers, I learned\u00a0<\/span>Lost Paws<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>operated<\/span> with little to no funding<\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>they\u00a0<\/span>supported animals on the side of their full-time jobs<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0There was no shelter or storefront<\/span>;\u00a0<\/span>it<\/span>\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0a foster-only rescue<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0which mean<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0donations directly support the animals<\/span>\u00a0and programs<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Impressed and inspired, something just clicked.\u00a0<\/span>With my hobby marketer skills and passion for animals,\u00a0<\/span>I could\u00a0<\/span>help<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Learning New Tricks<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

 <\/p>\n

M<\/span>y top talent is ideation<\/span>, and s<\/span>ince my ho<\/span>usehold<\/span>\u00a0is nearly at capacity with canine companions<\/span>, I come up with other ways to volunteer. It\u2019s my creative outlet.<\/span>\u00a0I take pictures of the animals,\u00a0<\/span>work adoption<\/span>\u00a0events,\u00a0<\/span>add story updates to<\/span>\u00a0the website and<\/span>\u00a0learned how to\u00a0<\/span>help with SEO as well as make crate pads and bandanas for the animals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Helping animals find a loving home is rewarding but c<\/span>arving out time to make\u00a0<\/span>an<\/span>\u00a0impact is challenging. That\u2019s why I\u2019m so appreciative to work for a company that offers time off to volunteer.\u00a0<\/span>With <\/span>four days off per year to volunteer, I know I\u2019m supported in giving back to a cause that is important to me.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Most recently, I\u2019ve used McAfee\u2019s Volunteer Time Off benefit to<\/span> expand my skill set with<\/span>\u00a0grant writing classes<\/span>. With stronger writing skills,\u00a0<\/span>I c<\/span>ould<\/span>\u00a0better support funding\u00a0<\/span>requests\u00a0<\/span>for Lost Paws.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Making an Impact with McAfee<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Giving back in these different ways is rewarding.\u00a0<\/span>I\u2019ve help<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0grow\u00a0<\/span>Lost Paws Rescue\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0participation i<\/span>n<\/span>\u00a0community giving initiative<\/span>s<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>T<\/span>hrough our SEO efforts when DFW rescues are<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0Googled, Lost Paws Rescue of Texas appears on the front page (alongside some of the larger, global animal rescues!)<\/span>. I\u2019m also proud to share\u00a0<\/span>that\u00a0<\/span>grant writing classes were helpful as we were awarded $26K for a couple of my successful submissions just last fall.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

McAfee\u2019s Volunteer Time Off (VTO) benefit is\u00a0<\/span>simply\u00a0<\/span>awesome. We are so lucky to have volunteer days as employees. I\u2019m constantly trying to figure out a new way to serve this cause. It\u2019s been a labor of love\u2014for me, for the animals and for this organization and it\u2019s empowering to know McAfee supports me along the way.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here, I can bring all my passions, interests and talents through the door.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
