The generosity and kindness displayed by team members across McAfee\u00a0<\/span>is one major factor that\u00a0<\/span>make<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0up the incredible culture of the company. At McAfee, we empower our team members\u00a0<\/span>to initiate meaningful ways to give back to the community. It came to no surprise when a large group of team members <\/span>came together<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>in order to run a donation drive to benefit the Make-A-Wish Foundation.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a nonprofit corporation that<\/span>\u00a0helps<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>grant wishes to<\/span>\u00a0thousands of children fighting\u00a0<\/span>life-threatening medical conditions.\u00a0<\/span>One way to support the foundation is by donating airline miles. Nationally, Make-A-Wish needs more than 2.8\u00a0<\/span>b<\/span>illion miles, or 50,000 round-trip tickets, to cover every<\/span>\u00a0child\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0travel wish<\/span>\u00a0each year.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Every mile donated\u00a0<\/span>will\u00a0<\/span>help<\/span> kids and their families travel to destinations around the world,<\/span>\u00a0once it is safe to resume travel<\/span>. It is just one<\/span>\u00a0of the<\/span>\u00a0way<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0that individuals can\u00a0<\/span>help create\u00a0<\/span>a life-changing wish experience<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some of our team members organized an<\/span>\u00a0air miles donation drive<\/span>\u00a0and encouraged others to donate their miles to the cause. The impact was astronomical, with\u00a0<\/span>team members\u00a0<\/span>rais<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0over 585,000 miles to benefit the Make<\/span>–<\/span>a<\/span>–<\/span>Wish Foundation in the Bay Area.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We reached out to\u00a0<\/span>three\u00a0<\/span>air<\/span>line<\/span>\u00a0mile contributors at McAfee\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span>discuss<\/span>ed<\/span>\u00a0what\u00a0<\/span>inspired them to<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>contribut<\/span>e<\/span>\u00a0to this extraordinary initiative.<\/span><\/p>\n

I was happy to see the McAfee family come together and support a terrific cause by donating airline miles to the Make<\/span>-A-<\/span>Wish Foundation. Giving is a key element\u00a0<\/span>in\u00a0<\/span>my faith and a core value<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>I knew that\u00a0<\/span>I could<\/span>\u00a0either<\/span>\u00a0cash in the points and do something\u00a0<\/span>with\u00a0<\/span>my family<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0or I could put\u00a0<\/span>the miles<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>towards an even greater purpose and help a child who is truly in need<\/span>\u00a0of<\/span>\u00a0experienc<\/span>ing<\/span>\u00a0something special. The choice was an easy one to make.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I believe that\u00a0<\/span>helping others is one<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>of\u00a0<\/span>our\u00a0<\/span>top callings<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>Th<\/span>at<\/span>\u00a0is why I choose to give and do so generously<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>with joy. I know that I\u2019m not alone here at McAfee. There is a great culture of generosity that I\u2019ve witnessed across the organization and I\u2019m happy to simply be a part of that and do what I can to help<\/span>\u00a0others<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Years ago<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0my brother was a starving college student<\/span>\u00a0who<\/span>\u00a0volunteered for a local charity and drove cancer patients to their medical appointments. When I asked him about his volunteer work, he said that he didn\u2019t have a lot of money<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0but he had time<\/span>. V<\/span>olunteering allowed him to make a difference in someone\u2019s life and give back. It was a life<\/span>–<\/span>changing moment for me because it expanded how I think about giving to include time, donations and acts of kindness.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I<\/span>\u00a0chose to participate in the\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>ir\u00a0<\/span>m<\/span>iles\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>onation\u00a0<\/span>d<\/span>rive because I<\/span>\u00a0love that this program provides time for critically ill children to spend with their loved ones while creating memorable and happy experiences.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When\u00a0<\/span>team members from\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0enterprise org<\/span>anization<\/span>\u00a0set up\u00a0<\/span>a drive for\u00a0<\/span>the\u00a0<\/span>Make<\/span>-A-Wish F<\/span>oundation, it connected with me on a personal level. As I went through the stories<\/span>\u00a0of children<\/span>\u00a0whose wishes were granted\u00a0<\/span>through<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>the<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>program, I was moved to learn about how a<\/span>\u00a0little effort\u00a0<\/span>can\u00a0<\/span>create the best\u00a0<\/span>moment<\/span>s<\/span>\u00a0in someone\u2019s life.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Meaningful communication<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>from our HR team members and leadership promoting efforts to volunteer and give back to the community are motivating<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>I like that\u00a0<\/span>McAfee<\/span>\u00a0has a dedicated site\u00a0<\/span>that team members can\u00a0<\/span>access<\/span>\u00a0for giving<\/span>\u00a0and that there are opportunities in which McAfee\u00a0<\/span>matc<\/span>hes\u00a0<\/span>team member<\/span>\u00a0donations<\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0C<\/span>ollectively<\/span>,<\/span>\u00a0we can make a big difference to the world around us. Trul<\/span>y, together\u00a0<\/span>is power.<\/span><\/p>\n
