Fittingly, the theme of this year\u2019s event was Connected Impact, representing the role mobile connectivity plays in an ever-changing world,\u00a0where flexibility and adaptability are critical. Here are\u00a0four\u00a0of the key consumer takeaways from this year\u2019s conference:\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">1. 5G Is Connecting Our World<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">COVID-19 truly put the power of online connectivity to the test. While 2020 was supposed to be the year of 5G connectivity,\u00a0this\u00a0was put on pause as the world faced social and financial uncertainty. Instead, the spotlight fell on legacy technologies to create a new normal for users. Consumers quickly had to figure out how to live their best lives online\u202f\u2014\u00a0from\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcafee.com\/blogs\/consumer\/top-five-things-to-do-to-stay-secure-when-working-from-home\/?hilite=%27work%27%2C%27home%27\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">working from home<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fto\u202f<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcafee.com\/blogs\/consumer\/consumer-threat-notices\/stay-secure-while-distance-learning\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">distance learning<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fto digitally\u202fconnecting\u202fwith loved ones.\u202f<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To help foster online connectivity for all, 5G\u00a0must step back\u00a0into the spotlight. Although publicly available 5G networks have been around for two years, it is unlikely that many users see much of a difference between 5G and LTE.\u00a0For\u00a0users to feel the impact of 5G, mobile carriers\u00a0must\u00a0expand the frequencies at the low and high ends of the spectrum,\u00a0which is\u00a0where 5G networks operate.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.techrepublic.com\/article\/mwc-2021-barcelona-qualcomm-unveils-a-series-of-global-milestones-in-5g\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Qualcomm<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0led the 5G announcements on Monday with the unveiling of its second-generation Qualcomm 5G RAN Platform for Small Cells (FSM200xx). This platform brings major enhancements to\u00a0radio frequencies\u00a0and is designed to take\u00a0millimeter wave\u00a0performance to\u00a0more places:\u00a0indoors, outdoors,\u00a0and around the globe. According to Qualcomm, these\u00a0advancements aim\u00a0to facilitate greater mobile experiences and accelerate 5G performance and availability to users\u00a0everywhere\u2014 thus reshaping opportunities for homes, hospitals, offices and more.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2. New Wearables to Watch <\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Technology and connectivity played a crucial role in our daily lives in 2020\u2014and\u00a0therefore,\u00a0unsurprisingly,\u00a0spending on\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zdnet.com\/article\/covid-19-a-significant-factor-in-wearable-device-adoption-market-surge\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">health and wellness tech<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0grew by\u00a018.1%.\u00a0\u00a0But now, we must ask ourselves what role technology will play post-lockdown.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">While they did not have a physical appearance at MWC this year,\u00a0Samsung provided a sneak\u00a0of their new\u00a0wearables: they introduced the One UI Watch user\u00a0experience, a\u00a0new interface designed to make the Galaxy Watch and smartphone experience more deeply connected. Samsung also announced its expanded partnership with Google, promising to deliver better performance, longer battery life, and a larger\u00a0ecosystem of apps\u00a0to\u00a0the Galaxy Watch.\u202fAlthough\u00a0they\u00a0did not unveil any hardware at MWC, Samsung did ensure that users can expect to see new devices like the\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.t3.com\/features\/samsung-galaxy-z-fold-3-release-date-price-specs-feb-02\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Galaxy Z Fold 3<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and the Galaxy Watch 4 at their Galaxy Unpacked event happening in July\/August\u00a0of 2021.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">3. A Welcomed Distraction: Tablets for Entertainment <\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">2020\u00a0also shone\u00a0a bright light on the key role technology plays in the consumption and distribution of creative arts and entertainment.\u00a0Lockdown\u00a0put an even greater responsibility on streaming platforms \u2014 and the devices they are accessed on \u2014 to deliver content\u00a0right to\u00a0people\u2019s\u00a0homes.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To help meet entertainment consumption needs,\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.trustedreviews.com\/news\/lenovo-tablets-2021-4148021\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">Lenovo<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0announced not one, not two, but five new Android tablets\u00a0during MWC. Its largest tablet is the Yoga Tab 13, which features a built-in kickstand, 13-inch display with 2,160 x 1,350 resolution, up to 12 hours of battery life, and more. Lenovo is pitching this model as its \u201cportable home cinema,\u201d perfect for streaming on the go.\u00a0It also unveiled\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.lenovo.com\/pressroom\/press-releases\/sleek-tablets-smart-clock-streamline-your-connected-home-mwc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the Yoga Tab 11<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.lenovo.com\/pressroom\/press-releases\/sleek-tablets-smart-clock-streamline-your-connected-home-mwc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the Tab P11 Plus<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, which are expected to be available in\u00a0EMEA in\u00a0July following\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/news.lenovo.com\/pressroom\/press-releases\/sleek-tablets-smart-clock-streamline-your-connected-home-mwc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span data-contrast=\"none\">the Yoga Tab 13<\/span><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2019s June release date.\u00a0For users hoping for a more compact, budget-friendly device, Lenovo also announced the Lenovo Tab M8\u202fand the Lenovo Tab M7.
