Some viewers thought it was a post-production error. Others assumed it was a weird deepfake gone wrong. Reactions ranged from confused to amused, with a handful of keen observers nodding in understanding.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We didn\u2019t mess up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With the help of our creative agency VSA, we developed a series of digital ads using generative AI to blur the line between real and surreal. The goal? To make a bigger point: AI is now capable of mimicking reality in subtle, clever ways that are increasingly hard to detect.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcafee.com\/en-us\/scam-detector\/\"> That\u2019s exactly why tools like McAfee\u2019s Scam Detector matter more than ever.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWhile the ads are clearly AI, the implication is that AI isn\u2019t always so easy to spot,\u201d said Anne-Marie Rosser, CEO of VSA. \u201cIt\u2019s funny, and it creates empathy for the user since we\u2019re all susceptible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And don\u2019t worry\u2014we didn\u2019t hand everything over to the machines. McAfee and VSA\u2019s full creative and design teams were instrumental in shaping every detail, from concept to execution. The AI was a tool. The vision came from real people.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These creative choices reflect our philosophy at McAfee: take cybersecurity seriously, but don\u2019t always take yourself too seriously. From concert ticket scams to spoofed customer service texts, people across the country are sharing their experiences using #KeepItReal and #MyScamStory\u2014and we\u2019re listening.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some of those individuals, like actor Chris Carmack (of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The O.C.<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">), have joined our campaign to share their own moments of being duped. Others, like cyber student Henry or life coach Cory, are helping us educate others by turning personal pain into public empowerment.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Partnering for Impact<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This campaign isn\u2019t just about awareness\u2014it\u2019s about action. That\u2019s why we\u2019ve partnered with<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/fightcybercrime.org\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">FightCybercrime.org<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, a nonprofit that helps people recognize, report, and recover from scams. We\u2019re donating $50,000 worth of McAfee protection to people in FightCybercrime programs and to the volunteers who support them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019re also teaming up to expand education efforts through our Online Safety for Kids initiative\u2014because building a safer internet starts early.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>What&#8217;s Next<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scammers rely on silence, shame, and speed.
