Victims reported\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">more than $3.5 billion\u00a0in losses<\/span><\/b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, though the real number is\u00a0likely much\u00a0higher since many\u00a0scams\u00a0go unreported.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">But &#8220;imposter scam&#8221; is a broad category. It\u00a0doesn&#8217;t\u00a0tell you what these\u00a0scams\u00a0actually look\u00a0like when they land in your inbox, texts, social media DMs, or phone calls.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">To better understand what consumers are\u00a0encountering\u00a0every day,\u00a0<\/span><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">McAfee surveyed more than 7,500 people for its\u00a0<\/span><\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcafee.com\/blogs\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Scamiverse.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><i><span data-contrast=\"none\">State of the Scamiverse<\/span><\/i><\/b><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0report<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.
