In-the-wild exploitation of this vulnerability has been observed across limited, targeted attacks. The flaw is specific to a use-after-free vulnerability in VGX.DLL (memory corruption). Successful exploitation can give an attacker the ability to run arbitrary code (via remote code execution). The flaw affects the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 6<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 7<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 8<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 9<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 10<\/li>\n<li>Microsoft Internet Explorer 11<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Current McAfee Product Coverage and Mitigation<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>McAfee Vulnerability Manager<\/strong>: \u00a0The FSL\/MVM package of April 28 includes a vulnerability check to assess if your systems are at risk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee VirusScan (AV)<\/strong>: \u00a0The <strong>7423<\/strong> DATs (release date April 29, 2014) provide coverage for perimeter\/gateway products and the command-line scanner-based technologies. \u00a0Full detection capabilities, across all products, will be released in the <strong>7428<\/strong> DAT update (release date May 4, 2014).<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee Web Gateway (AV)<\/strong>: The <strong>7423<\/strong> DATs (release date April 29, 2014) provide coverage.<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee Network Security Platform (NIPS)<\/strong>: The UDS Release of April 28 contains detection.\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Attack ID<\/strong>:\u00a00x4512e700<\/li>\n<li><strong>Name:<\/strong> &#8220;UDS-HTTP: Microsoft Internet Explorer CMarkup Object Use-After-Free vulnerability&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention (HIPS)<\/strong>: \u00a0Generic buffer overflow protection is expected to cover code execution exploits.<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee Next Generation Firewall (NGFW)<\/strong>: Update package 579-5211 (released April 29, 2014) provides detection.<\/li>\n<li><strong>McAfee Application Control<\/strong>:\u00a0McAfee Application Control provides coverage via the MP-CASP feature.
