And who knows \u2014 if a few of these tips boost your family&#8217;s safety, you may have just saved summer for everyone!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>4 Ways to Boost Family Safety Online\u00a0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Practice safe social.\u00a0<\/strong>Challenge your family to reign in its social footprint by taking these specific actions:\u00a0<strong>1)<\/strong> Adjust privacy settings on all social networks.\u00a0<strong>2)<\/strong> Trim friend and follower lists.\u00a0<strong>3) <\/strong>Delete any personal data on social profiles such as birthdate, address, or school affiliation.<strong> 4)<\/strong> Edit, limit app permissions. As we&#8217;ve just seen <a href=\"https:\/\/securingtomorrow.mcafee.com\/consumer\/consumer-threat-notices\/facebook-users-data-exposed-by-suspended-app\/\">in the headlines<\/a>, the misuse of personal data is a very big deal.\u00a0<strong>5)<\/strong> Share with care. Strong relationship empowers responsibility. <strong>3)<\/strong> Be confident. As parenting expert,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.megmeekermd.com\/blog\/facebook-and-social-media-what-parents-need-to-know-to-keep-their-child-safe-online\/\">Dr. Meg Meeker says<\/a>, parents should be parenting from a place of confidence, rather than from a place of fear. &#8220;The temptation for parents is to think that they have no control over what their child does online.
