Amazon Web Services

Security for Amazon Elastic Cloud

Partnership Overview

McAfee helps customers adopt Amazon Web Services (AWS) and the public cloud with the same security controls available in a private data center. Customers enjoy the operational benefits of the cloud without worrying about a security gap. With McAfee AWS Connector for McAfee ePolicy Orchestrator (McAfee ePO), users seamlessly discover, secure, and conveniently manage Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances in the same manner they manage their on-premises environment. Additionally, McAfee VirusScan for Linux is available in a ready-to-use format on the AWS Marketplace.

Data Center Connector for AWS

Data Center Connector for AWS discovers and imports Amazon EC2 instances from AWS into the McAfee ePO server. With this feature, McAfee ePO recognizes elastic scaling of EC2 instances and is always aware of the extent of VMs in the cloud. The AWS Connector provides an easy way to deploy all McAfee endpoint solutions on EC2, which in turn enables consistent security between the public cloud and the on-premises private data center.

McAfee Secure Amazon Linux

McAfee Secure Amazon Linux (MSAL) is a Linux operating system with pre-installed security. Amazon Linux is the OS designed for EC2, and McAfee VirusScan for Linux is an award-winning antivirus product for Linux systems. These technologies are now combined as a single package for EC2 users.

Use this operating system to help stay safe from the growing threats and malware targeting Linux systems. Amazon Linux is a supported and maintained Linux image provided by AWS for use on EC2. It is designed to provide a stable, high-performance execution environment for applications running on Amazon EC2. McAfee VirusScan for Linux delivers always-on, real-time antivirus protection for Linux instances. Its unique Linux-based on-access scanner constantly monitors the system for potential attacks. Regular, automatic updates from McAfee Labs protect your instance from the latest threats. This product is packaged with Amazon Linux to create the MSAL operating system. McAfee VirusScan for Linux is installed and configured to run out of the box, without the need for any additional configuration. Advanced users can choose to customize configuration using an intuitive interface.
