Positioned highest for completeness of vision in the Gartner Endpoint MQ

By on Jan 16, 2014

Gartner MQ EPPGartner’s latest Endpoint Protection Platform Magic Quadrant (released January 14), has McAfee positioned in the leaders quadrant with the highest for completeness of vision.

We believe that this result is a result of years of defining and delivering on our vision of what organizations need today and tomorrow. Security buyers see McAfee’s surge in new product delivery, Security Connected strategy and leading protection rankings and see this rating as further confirmation of market leadership. McAfee customers also see McAfee as a positive influence on McAfee and our new Complete Endpoint Protection Suites as a comprehensive solution, by including advanced features like dynamic Application Control, Real time technology and the Advanced Threat Defense product introduction.

McAfee participates in 9 different Magic Quadrants and is a leader in 7 (such as IPS, Firewall and Data Protection). We have been in the leaders quadrant since 2007. Inclusion in this Magic Quadrant was limited to vendors that met these minimum criteria: Detection and cleaning of malware (for example, viruses, spyware, rootkits, trojans, worms), a personal firewall, and HIPS for servers and PCs. They also must have centralized management, configuration and reporting capabilities sufficient to support companies of at least 5,000 geographically dispersed endpoints and global service and support organization.

Any vendor who participates will tell you that Gartner’s methodology for preparing each Magic Quadrant report is rigorous and usually involves dozens of people for several months. Vendors must meet quantitative requirements such as revenue and significant market penetration to be included in the report. If these threshold requirements are met then Gartner probes deeper by reviewing independent protection testing, meeting with company representatives, interviewing customers, viewing multiple product demonstrations and soliciting feedback to written questions. Providers that make the cut are evaluated across four Magic Quadrant categories as either “leaders, challengers, niche players, or visionaries.” Then each provider is placed on the quadrant guided by an independent evaluation of each provider’s “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”

McAfee believes that landing in the “leaders” quadrant is considered a top recognition and an ultimate honor.

Please know that none of this would be possible without an incredibly talented, world-class team focused on executing on our mission of protecting organizations of any size.   By staying focused on exceeding the needs of our customers with the most advanced and reliable protection against malware.
