I’ve said it for some time—the world today is becoming increasingly connected, both on-and-offline. Everything from our shopping to banking, social networking to photography, job-hunting to booking travel—you name it—is taking place online. But being online can put you at risk and open a wide door to your identity when exposed to the wrong cyber criminal with the right know how. That is why McAfee has worked with McAfee to develop a complete offering of protection when it comes to the devices we rely on nearly every minute of every day. And, I’m proud to say our hard work has shown some impressive results.

This past week, PCMag named McAfee LiveSafe™ service as its Editors’ Choice as a comprehensive security offering. Neil J. Rubenking, of PCMag, awarded the product 4.5 out of 5 stars and an “excellent” rating. This is the third year in a row that a McAfee cross-device solution has realized this highly sought after award.

McAfee LiveSafe was developed around the idea that today’s consumers are always somehow digitally connected, which means they are continuously exposed to online threats no matter where they are or how they connect. With that in mind, our service focuses on protecting you by providing comprehensive safeguards across all of your personal computing devices, including your smartphone and tablets. As McAfee’s president, Mike DeCesare, has said in the past, “Our digital lives have become more complex as we connect, share, and store data through multiple devices.” People need a security solution that will guard their data, hardware, and identity whether on a laptop, desktop, or mobile device.

We’ve made McAfee LiveSafe the most robust security solution we could offer to consumers. Here are just a few of the features and benefits highlighted in PCMag’s review:

  • Easily control your security options online. On your account there is a dashboard that allows you to monitor and safeguard all the devices you want protected, from one central location.
  • No limit to the amount of devices you can protect. One of the best features of McAfee LiveSafe is that you can protect as many devices as you would like. Most security suites limit your protection to three or five devices, but McAfee LiveSafe gives you the best value for unlimited protection.
  • Support for multiple devices and platforms. McAfee LiveSafe features are compatible with PC, Mac, Android, iOS, Kindle Fire, and BlackBerry devices. It scans any of these devices for malware and checks the safety of new apps, protecting against any that may ask for too much permission to access more data than they should need. Manage passwords in a secure virtual vault. McAfee SafeKey, a feature of McAfee LiveSafe, securely stores your saved passwords and automatically logs you in to all your accounts on all your favorite sites with one click. Not only can McAfee SafeKey generate complex and secure passwords, and then remember them for you, it works across all your devices, so all your stored passwords are easily accessible from any of your devices.
  • Great value! You can get all the safety of McAfee LiveSafe for just $79.99. Those purchasing a qualified PC or tablet can get a first-year introductory rate of $19.99. Visit the McAfee LiveSafe hub for more information.

While we’re proud of all of the McAfee LiveSafe components, our most shining innovation lies in our Personal Locker feature. The security industry has recently begun to embrace the use of biometrics for protection against savvy cybercriminals. With McAfee Personal Locker, you get the best of biometric authentication technology and traditional security to help you keep your most sensitive files and documents safe. You can upload items like photos of their passports or credit cards to your Personal Locker, which can then only be access using voice and facial recognition. And because it can be used from your PC or mobile device, you can have access to your files anytime, anywhere. As Rubenking put it, “There’s no getting around it; McAfee’s Personal Locker technology is cool. I felt like James Bond, logging in to view my protected documents.

It’s important to us that users are educated on the very real issue of cybercrime, and that they are able to protect themselves against new and emerging threats. When it comes to McAfee LiveSafe, I think Rubenking said it best: “There are other cross-platform multi-device security suites, but none of them offer McAfee’s combination of unlimited devices and highly useful additional components.
