In this edition, we highlight the news and statistics gathered by the McAfee Advanced Threat Research and McAfee Labs teams in the fourth quarter of 2017. This quarter we saw cybercriminals pivot from some of their tried-and-true methods, such as ransomware, toward newer tools and techniques, such as PowerShell malware and cryptocurrency mining.
